Presenting the September issue of your WOW Philippines E-Newsletter. This month finds PDOT London accompanying selected tour operators and media from our European markets including UK, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Spain and Denmark to the Philippine Travel Exchange (PHITEX).
We also share with you some interesting developments from the Philippines' particiaption in Expo Zaragoza in Spain, an international exposition where more than 100 nations strut their stuff at pavilions on the riverside site expected to draw 7 million visitors.

Philippines Taxi Campaign - London
Initially launched in September 2005, the London Taxi Promotions Campaign continues to be one of the most consistent and successful promotional programs of the PDOT London. Its strong visual presence in the streets of London continues to generate great awareness and demand for Philippine tourism packages.
Starting this month, the 58 Philippine taxis in London will be sporting a brand new design featuring the latest Philippines Branding Campaigns. The Sun, Sea, Sand Campaign focuses on the leisure and beach market while the Culture, Adventure, Nature Campaign targets the adventure market. Even the tip-up seats inside the taxi cabs will be showcasing the latest Philippine packages from our UK tour operator partners.
Philippine Travel Exchange (PHITEX) 2008
It is all systems go for the upcoming Philippine Travel Exchange (PHITEX) at SMX Manila this 10-11 September 2008. PHITEX is the premiere business to business oriented travel fair in the Philippines which provides a unique venue for buyers from all over the world to meet with Philippine sellers.
There are currently over 150 buyers worldwide, with a great majority coming from Europe, meeting with some 150 top business suppliers in the Philippines, including hotels, resorts, ground handlers and airline carriers.
They will have the opportunity to meet with their counterparts from local Philippine suppliers during the trade show.
Friends Tour 2008
Registration is still ongoing for the Special Friends Tour on 17 November - 1 December 2008. Spaces are still open for those who wish to experience an extensive expedition of the Philippines.
The tour covers the cities of Manila, Cebu, and Bohol as well as and a choice of "Paradise Destination" such as Boracay, Palawan (Puerto Princesa or El Nido) or Davao and many attractions in between. This tour not only encompasses major natural and cultural attractions but also allows you to make unparalleled acquaintances through special activities.

Check out the two new exciting additions to our WOWPhilippines UK Website this month enabling precise messages to be delivered to our target audiences.

DOT Annual Marketing Meeting
The annual marketing meeting of the Philippines Department of Tourism for tourism attach?â??s and market representatives will be held on 3-6 September 2008 in Panglao, Bohol.
The workshop will focus on all planned marketing strategies for each of the field markets for 2009 until 2010. The PDOT continues to devise innovative strategies and projects to significantly optimize tourism promotional capabilities in all our targeted international markets.

Featured Destination of the Month
Panglao is known for its world-class dive sites, cave formations, and pristine white sand beaches. Panglao Island is a haven for divers and those seeking spectacular views both above ground and underwater. Located in Central Visayas, southwest of Bohol and east of Cebu, this small island is one of the most bio-diverse and attractive destinations in the Philippines. Come to a place where marine life abounds just metres from the shore, with quiet beaches and caves waiting to be explored.
Alona Palm Beach Resort is situated in the middle of a tropical garden with twelve luxury villas divided from a sandy beach by a 60-metre wide coconut palm grove. The villas are elegantly furnished, either with a king size bed or two double beds, and most offer pool, coconut palm grove and sea view. The open air poolside restaurant overlooks the sea and offers excellent Filipino and international cuisine. Impressive gains for RP tourism at 2008 Zaragoza Expo
The Philippine Pavilion at the 2008 Expo in Zaragoza, Spain has so far been visited by a massive crowd of 538,845 visitors since the world exposition opened on June 14 this year. July registered the highest number of visitors at 246,938. This represents roughly 20% of the total visitor count to the Expo itself.
The report sent to the Department of Tourism in Manila by the Philippine tourism attach?â?? in London, Domingo Ramon Enerio III, recently appointed by Secretary Joseph Durano as deputy commissioner for the country?ó?é¼?äós participation at the Zaragoza Expo, highlights the impact of the many marketing innovations that have been implemented since July 14.

DOT London Upcoming Exhibitions
DOT London is pleased to announce its participation in the following events during the 4th quarter of 2008, and invites its private sector partners to participate along with us in the Philippine stand;
1. TTG Incontri ?ó?é¼?Ç£ 24 to 26 October 2008, Rimini Fiera, Italy (the premiere B2B travel trade event in Italy; booth size is 24 square meters, and can only accommodate a maximum of 4 private sector participants on a first-come-first-served basis; no assessment fee since this is the first time that DOT London will participate in said show; private sector participants assume the cost of listing in the official Registry, as may be necessary);
2. Dive Birmingham Show ?ó?é¼?Ç£ 01 to 02 November 2008, NEC Birmingham , UK (the Dive Show is the biggest of its kind in the Midlands, and caters to the dive markets in Northern and Central England, Scotland and Wales; booth size is 50 square meters, and can accommodate a maximum of 8 private sector participants on a first-come-first-served basis; assessment fee is pegged at US$300.00, which allows the participation of 2 persons in the Philippine stand); and
3. World Travel Market ?ó?é¼?Ç£ 10 to 13 November 2008, ExCel Docklands, London (WTM is the premiere B2B travel trade event in the UK and the world; booth size has been increased from 116 to 145 square meters, and can comfortably accommodate 15 private sector participants on the first-come-first-served basis; assessment fee is US$500 per table, which allows the participation of only 2 delegates per company).
